Cessna Service Bulletin MEB99-16 & Allied Signal's Service Advisory SA99-01B
Please note per Allied Signal this is a service advisory only. Very few field failures have occurred. RAM's failure rate is less than 1%. RAM recommends a visual inspection only, for compressor wheel - scroll interference, at your next oil change. DO NOT MANUALLY MOVE THE COMPRESSOR WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE.
The majority of the turbochargers supplied by Aviall to RAM Aircraft over the last 18 months are affected, per serial number, by Cessna Service Bulletin MEB99-16. RAM Series VII 414A & 414 airplanes are not affected since they are equipped with a larger turbocharger. RAM recommends that customers who fall within the guidelines set forth in the MEB and are having trouble with their turbochargers contact Aviall as instructed. The contact at Aviall is Tim Tellin or Bill Waltman at 1-800-284-2551. RAM does not have a supply of turbochargers, therefore we are unable to supply replacement turbochargers. Please refer to your serviceable tags in the logbooks to determine the serial numbers of the turbochargers.
