SUBJECT: RAM OIL FILTER LEAKS

PURPOSE: TO REMOVE ALL SUSPECT 1863-1 RAM OIL FILTERS FROM SERVICE

COMPLIANCE: PRIOR TO FURTHER FLIGHT

MODELS AFFECTED: CONTINENTAL MOTORS IO-520 SERIES, TSIO-520 SERIES, LTSIO-520-AE.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Some RAM Part Number 1863-1 Oil Filters may have developed leaks past the gasket as a result of not being fully torqued. All RAM 1863-1 Oil Filters purchased after 17 April 1999 with Lot number 2085 Rev. D stamped on them should be removed from service prior to further flight. Inventory Filters should be returned to RAM for refund or replacement. Improved replacement filters will be available within thirty (30) days.

INSPECTION: Check inservice and inventory RAM Oil Filters for affected Lot Number (2085 Rev. D).

CREDIT: RAM will replace, or pay to change, all affected Oil Filters purchased since 17 April 1999. Labor allowance will be one-hour per Filter. Apply through RAM Customer Service for labor and material reimbursement.
